COVID-19 and Google: How to Update My Business Listings

This is timely and important for any business with a Google My Business listing, read on!

As of March 23, Google is temporarily scaling back some important offerings for Google My Business users due to the impact of COVID-19 to Google staff. Here is what you need to know:

1. No new reviews or replies to reviews will be published.
2. No new Q & A submittals
3. New Listings, Claims, Verifications and Business Edits will be scaled back and prioritize critical services. Other business listing updates will take longer. Expect a delay!

What is NOT impacted? Your Google My Business Posts, for now.

That could change soon. This is a critical time to update your account. With so many businesses changing plans, hours and offerings in a short amount of time, there is lots of confusion. Give your customers the best opportunity to work with you. Your Google My Business card is visible to map and search users.

Take time to post business updates like:

your business status – open or closed?
operating hour adjustments
the best way to set appointments or purchase products during the quarantine
phone number, email or other contact info
Delivery or pick up directions
